THE KOREATOWN ODDITY KIMCHI

The Koreatown Oddity is a Los Angeles MC/producer, humorist, screenwriter, and self-described "overall visionary". He began releasing his left-field hip hop strictly on cassette, including collaborations with Ras G (as 5 Chuckles) and Mndsgn (as Vivians). Following his 4th album Finna Be Past Tense (Oddity's debut release on Stones Throw) is his new single 'Kimchi'. The beat sounds like it was lifted from an urban 90's playstation game, with sirens and playful melodies over an 808 style drum beat. Oddity narrates his upbringing in L.A, covering topics from graffiti, the place FKJ was assassinated, police discrimination of the black community and his separated parents. His words are insightful and well-fitted to the video of him walking with his young daughter..."I wouldn't change a bit, it helped me grow thick skin, didn't see him all the time but when I did, constantly dropping gems, never talked to me like a kid, even though they didn't live under the same roof, separately what my parents taught me was true." The Koreantown Oddity's 'Kimchi' is streaming with sharp and unique style. -Ellie Rose-Davies
